A pretty compelling argument

I was pretty disheartened to watch the video below. Apparently, there has a United Nations resolution for peace in the middle east (referred to as "Peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine") that has been on the books for years and years. The vast majority of the world is in favour of this resolution. But it is just a suggestion but it says a lot about those who support it. Or more importantly, those who do not.

The resolution and how nations voted on it is freely available online at the U.N. site. This is the voting UN voting record. The last vote (I can find) was held in November of 2022. The resolution id is A/77/L.26. Within the document are a few items, I guess they vote on each separately. The voting went more or less like, over 100 in favour, 17 against and a significant number of abstentions: 53 (a lot of Europe in there). In that against are: Albania, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Czechia, Germany, Guatemala, Hungary, Israel, Marshall Islands, Micronesia (Federated States of), Nauru, Palau, Slovakia, United States of America.

So why in the world is 'peace-keeper Canada' against peace in Palestine?? (This was pre-war obviously) But would it be any different now? This article offers a statement from Global Affairs Canada : "When it comes to votes at the UN, Canada reiterates the importance of a fair-minded approach," the statement reads. "We will continue to vote no on resolutions that do not address the complexities of the issues or address the actions of all parties. We also remain opposed to the disproportionate singling out of Israel for criticism." (Not sure when the statement was made) What? Criticism of Israel? Israel deserves criticism! Israel has so much blood on their hands. They are killing more woman and children than Hamas terrorists. They are targeting and bombing hospitals. They offer only weak proof to justify where they are indiscriminately bombing. They have displaced hundreds of thousands of civilians then start bombing the area they moved to. They continue to restrict and confine civilian movements, food, water and power. It is clearly NOT a war against Hamas (which could be more justifiable). It is a war against ALL Palestinians. It is disgusting that Canada supports it. It has really become a 'my country right or wrong' situation. It is remarkable that Israelis continue to support Netanyahu's warmonging.

A very interesting take on the situation. As Norm says, the U.N. documents are pretty easy to find. I found them. *shrug*
