We completely replanted the front garden last fallโ€ฆ

My weekend started early Saturday with an appointment to get the car serviced. What the hell was I thinking setting up an appointment for 8AM? Gah. The Vibe has logged close to 300km (it will flip over Monday) and my mechanic said it is still purring like a cat. Perhaps an dirty old mangy cat, but purring nevertheless. It would be great if we could get another two or three years use out of it. *fingers crossed* A few hours after the car was good to go I had a delightful massage. Insert RMT plug here. As is often the case, I quickly undo the benefits of my massage with a few hours of back breaking yard work. The yellow flowered menace that proliferated across the lawn last year has returned. In spite of chemical warfare we waged upon it, once again it is rising from the earth. Soโ€ฆ I take great pleasure in ripping them out by hand. One by one. I filled a yard barrel full of them before I was done. I kept ripping them out until my back was sore โ€“ fsckers โ€“ I made a good dent in their numbers. Iโ€™m hoping that getting them early in Spring will reduce their numbers. It would be nice to not have a ghetto lawn for a change. Le sigh.

Iโ€™ve been watching Dexter Season one off and on for a few weeks. It is quite good. โค Showtime. I reached the end of season one last night. Damn, didn't see that coming. What excellent writing! (I'm not saying much since bdot claims she wants to watch itโ€ฆ) Iโ€™ve also been keeping up with Game of Thrones. Iโ€™m finding it is moving along pretty slowly. Almost disappointingly slowlyโ€ฆ I understand they are building towards something but, chop chop, action, less dialogue. Of course Iโ€™ve been watching a ton of playoff hockey as well. The Flyers/Pens series has been great. Watching it nowโ€ฆ the pivotal game six. It would be great to see this series go seven games. Playoffs make strange bedfellows when the Sabres are out. *cough* Go Sens!

My sister was in a hockey tournament in the area so we planned on dinner and a movie with her and my Brother in law. Dinner was yummy Thai. Weโ€™ve been hankering for Thai for awhile and they have been either closed or on holidays every time we calledโ€ฆ The food seemed especially delicious last night. Maybe I was just hungry. *shrug*

Speaking of hunger, the movie we decided to see was the Hunger Games. The movie has been out long enough that we could see it in our local theatre and it wasnโ€™t crowded. (Although there were annoying people talking and playing with their phone off and on all movie long. I wanted to snap my food off in their assโ€ฆ) Huh, the movie. I really enjoyed it. I thought the concept for the movie was really intelligent and intriguing. The film is based on the book by Suzanne Collins which I have not read. Basically in a post-war world the Earth is broken into twelve districts. To maintain peace there is a yearly event where each district sends a male and female to compete in battle to the death. Yeep! โ€ฆha, and there is rebellion to this? I could see some sort of crazy Authoritarian world like this developing and the suggestive metaphors in this movie were numerous. Bdot and I both liked how the movie was shot. The curiously brightly coloured Capital city compared to the gray subdued reality of the districts. The young actors were very convincing and played up to the range of emotions with their characters. A compelling and entertaining film. โญโญโญโญ

I might consider reading these books. I need more hours in my day.

I was awakened this morning to a dog hovering over my head with a big stuffed animal in her mouth wagging her tail. Good morning human! Happy to see you! Letโ€™s play! Dogs can be awesome.
