AMD Ryzen
Merry early Christmas! I missed out on the original Black Friday sale at NewEgg but they got more chips in! So as part of my Christmas present from my wife (thanks hon!) Iโve upgraded from my AMD Ryzen 3 3300X 4-Core to Ryzen 5 5600X (Vermeer). What an upgrade From Toms hardware: โZen 3โs gaming performance is nothing short of spectacular. The Ryzen 5 5600X is simply the mainstream chip for gamingโ! Fortunately, I had no issues during the upgrade. That annoying bitlocker BIOS thing flashed up once but it didnโt impact anything and I was able to boot normally. *eyeroll* I updated my Motherboard BIOS to the current version prior to the upgrade and I had no issues. *phew* I did have to completely remove the motherboard because the CPU Fan mount shifted and the fan screws had nothing to grab intoโฆ *snort* The CPU is sitting at 1-3% usage in Windows 11 with Firefox open streaming the World Cup with 15 tabs open. Most cores are sitting idle. *incredible*
Iโll update more as I game etc. but so far everything seems to be running well. *nerdgasm* While there are a few higher-grade CPUs I could get for my AM4 board, this will be it for me. Somewhere down the road, I may get another AM4 board for the old 3300X which is still a great chip.
