Found a sliver of shaded space

Summer ‘officially’ started today. You wouldn’t know by the weather lately however. The weekend was a scorcher with temperatures into the mid 30s. You know it is nasty when you get heat advisories for your reason from the Weather Network.

My Mom paid us a visit this weekend. She stayed over Saturday night. It was great to see her as I rarely get the chance to do so. We showed her the awesomeness that is Netflix which she quickly grasped and was taking advantage of. We spent as much time as we could in the backyard. Once the shade was gone however, it was unbearably hot. A neighbour a few houses down was having a party. We could hear Spanish/Latin music for most of the day. It sounded like they were having fun. The backyard has really become our go to place. Once we have a consistent shade solution I think we’ll finally have a place that is really ours to get away to.

My Mom had a busy weekend. After she left us she had another family dinner to attend. So she was off early Sunday. We had breakfast at The Diner then stopped in at Humber Nurseries. That was a poor idea. It was just too hot to be outside wandering around inside greenhouses. So despite having some ideas for some new plantings and seeing a bunch of stuff we liked, we still opted to reflect on them and head home.

I’ve been watching some of the European Cup. I can always get behind an underdog. Go Iceland! Speaking of underdogs, the Cavs came back from being down 3-1 to win the NBA Championship. So now Cleveland crosses itself off the list of cities without a major win in recent memory. Buffalo continues to wait.

Part of bdot’s Christmas gift was Dixies Chicks tickets. That is coming up this Wednesday. We both have the day off. Hoping the weather will be cooler but still warm. In work related news, they have decided to keep me on past my three month probation. This is great news. I’m excited to be in a stable position again.
