I started getting interested in the band the Police around the time of Synchronicity. Sadly this proved to be the bandโ€™s final album. I still enjoyed all their songs but always wished I has seen them. Well, tonight I did. They were a little rusty but overall put on a solid show tonight at the ACC. The night started a little weak. I wasnโ€™t too impressed with some of the re-instrumentation of various songs. Walking on The Moon was truly brought down to a pedestrian snails pace and The Bedโ€™s Too Big Without You was playing without much vibe or enjoyment at all it seemed. Additionally during some of the songs there were miscues or periods where the band of was out of synch. After the first few songs I was actually worried that Iโ€™d pissed away a lot of money on some has-beens.

But the final half of the show improved dramatically. Roxanne, Invisible Sun, So Lonely all impressed and the crowd rocking. It was pretty amusing watching Stewart run back and forth from his drum set to a percussion setup behind his kit. Andy Summers seemed pretty indifferent most of the night. At times I found his solos excessive and self indulgent. Yes, Andy we know you can play guitar. Sting sounded really good. I donโ€™t think he really tested himself as much as he may have in the past but he still possesses an impressive stage presence and tried to get the willing audience into the show. I was hoping to hear Bring on the Nightโ€ฆbut didnโ€™t. Iโ€™m sure as the tour continues the shows will continue to get tighter. My only hope for future shows would be to play the songs as they were made famous not as how you would choose to rearrange them for *whatever* reason.

Fictionplane opened for the Police. I enjoyed most of their songs. Clearly strong musicianship didnโ€™t fall too far from the Sumner tree. It will be interesting to see what develops from this band as they wrote some very interesting material.

Not related to the police in any wayโ€ฆ This is one seriously funny video: โš ๏ธ (it's gone! link now 404 ๐Ÿ˜• - Jan/24)
