Islands in Jack Lake

Alright. Trying to post this entry again. No idea why WordPress has so many password issues.

So we are finally on our first vacation of the Summer. It sure fells like it has been a long time coming. We were invited to join some friends at a ‘cottage’. The cottage was generously offered to our friends at a discounted rate. The ‘cottage’ located near Apsley, ON on Jack Lake. The prep to leave always seems to be a massive undertaking. We both toiled for hours before we were finally on the road. Getting to the location is via a series of tight snaking stone roads. I’d need to leave bread crumbs to get home.

Wow. The ‘cottage’ is hardly a cottage. It’s a new modern, beautiful house on two treed acres right on the shore of Jack Lake. The place is ridiculous. It exceeds any expectations that I could possibly have had.

An incredible place.

We are at the house with two families. Bonnie and Buck’s and David and Vicky’s and their children of the corn. So there are eleven of us here. Meals have been amazing. Bonnie caught the first edible fish yesterday that the kids named George. George was delicious.

We’ve had a lot of fun enjoying our downtime. It is curious how quickly you can drop into a chill gear. The MEN did a run into Apsley for food, booze and bait. The evenings have been full of drinks, music and laughs. Buck took us for a short tour of Jack Lake. It seems really large with several small islands dotted all over. We’ve all benefited from David’s culinary prowess. We’ve ate like Kings and Queens so far. I think a game of bocce is calling my name…

The weather has been significantly better than the previously posted forecast.
