Chilling at the cottage

Bdot arrived home safe and sound Friday night. The plan was to head up to her sister’s cottage but we weren’t organized, too tired and the 400 was rammed anyway. So, we relaxed at home and headed up Saturday morning. Packing always takes longer than expected, and we always bring way more than we need… it was only one night… The drive up wasn’t too bad, we took the 27N a good chunk of the way which was usually moving. The weather has been sunny and crazy hot… it continued to be at the cottage. For me, it is too hot. The humidex was hitting >35C. Any kind of movement is stifling and uncomfortable. We spent most of the time relaxing by the water, hiding from the sun on the deck or being food for various annoying insects. I can’t think of too many things more annoying than deer flies. They are unrelenting and buzz around your face, in your hair and ultimately bite at your feet. Gah. So we battled, and they lost. Yes they got a few bites, but I killed seven of them. I made an alter and sacrificed them to the ants by the edge of the water. I’m happy thinking ants ate them. In the evening we eventually settled on watching Yes Man with Jim Carrey and Zooey Deschanel. It was a pretty standard light romantic comedy. Carrey and Deschenel were cute together. It was funny at times and rather ridiculous at times. ⭐⭐⭐

Sunday we drove home in the early afternoon and stopped at Bdot’s sister’s for her Brother in Law’s and nephew’s birthday. We had a delicious Greek dinner. The boys were typically wired. It was a fun visit.

Wow the Women’s FIFA final was very exciting… Back and forth, the Japanese keep finding a way to stay in the game. Penalty kicks decided the winner JAPAN! I can’t believe how many penalty kicks the U.S. missed! Congrats to Japan!
