Not Canada's Night

4 Nations Faceoff, Ball Hockey, Valentine's Day, The Order

What a start.
What a start.

4Nations Faceoff (what a stupid name) is off running. The big game was this evening. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Canada v. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ US. Wow. What a start. I don't recall fights in international hockey, let alone three in a row. I don't know what is going on. With all that offensive firepower I would have expected Canada to score goals. Not look like the Sabres. Yeah, yeah, they are also facing the best defense, but wow... they didn't generate a lot of good chances in the game. Canada's weakness continues to be goaltending...I thought both goals were against Benny were soft. But that said, it was a 2-1 (US) going into the third. You can say US played a masterful defensive game and/or Canada's offensive was a let down... Either way they pulled the goalie (which I'm convinced just assures you lose the game) and the US got an empty netter. Canada some chances but elected for the extra pass three or four times. The game was WAY too tight not to shoot any time you had the chance. I think Canada played fairly well but, some key areas, and a few poor decision made the difference in two really good teams. I'm not sure what this does to Canada's chances to make the finals. Apparently, Sid's first international loss. Hmpt.

Looked it up: For #Canada to make the finals:
-CAN regulation win
-CAN OT win and SWE/US ends in OT
So, obviously, the ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ Finland game decides it.

Another night of Ball Hockey! After last weeks loss, I think we wanted to turn it around. Alas, we were missing two key forwards. But we fought it out and won by 3-4 after it was said and done. Despite maybe 10 shots on net I didn't score last night. (ha, watching the game video - it looks like I did get one... *shrug*) But, I had 2-3 primary assists and one of my best nights defensively. Once again, lots of laughs at the post-game carb fest.

It was a happy Valentine's Day. Bdot surprised me with delicious cinnamon rolls made from scratch... And we had yummy Thai take out tonight.

Ball hockey + clearing roof + shoveling driveway = DEAD BODY.

update

So much snow. OMG. Body is so sore...

Big win!
Big win!

Well Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ was in a must win to advance to the final in the 4Nations Faceoff. They came to play! Out to a two goal lead quickly in the 1st. They pushed the lead to 4-0 in the second. They took their foot off the gas and allowed the Fins ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ to make it uncomfortably close in the third 4-3... but Sid, again, saved the day with a big open ice check late in the game at centre ice, then a scored an important empty netter to put the game away. So...that sets up the big final rematch on Thursday v. the U.S., in the U.S.

Wow! Sweden ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช beat the U.S. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ 2-1 in regulation!

Had a lovely night. Hottub, a nice stout and a movie. We watched the drama The Order. It was a film based on the real events of a hate group. It was quite well done. I really enjoy true crime and it was depicted really well IMHO. A solid but disturbing film. It is unsettling that there is a blueprint for potential domestic terrorists. โญโญโญโญ
