Quite a tense quarterfinal game. 🇨🇦 v. 🇩🇪. Canada was outworked in the first half. Germany had a few good chances. Canada pushed back and had some chances in the 2nd. No one could score. Leon missed a glorious breakaway chance. The game went to OT... Canada had more chances but still couldn't finish. So it went to penalties. I wasn't optimistic. Canada is not good at PKs. I felt they had to win in regular play. And unfortunately, I was right... two out four missed PKs, you won't win very often with ratio. I'm sure FIFA is happy. It was a good run, just stumbled at the end..

The Legend of Vox Machina is a pretty cool animated D&D based series. Some great characters.

Niagara Visit

One of my longest, childhood friends who moved to Australia is home for a visit. So I decided to drive down to Niagara to see him. Driving down during a long weekend was a poor decision. the traffic was horrendous. It was a crawl from the Skyway ALL THE WAY to St.Catharines. I think it was the worst drive I've ever undertaken to Niagara as far as traffic. UGH.

I did have a nice visit with my Mom. She even made us dinner. It took a while for Jeff to become available as he was visiting someone else. I ended up arranging to meet with another friend from the street and we all ultimately got together in his backyard. I finally got to meet Jimmy's girlfriend Carol. She was really pleasant and friendly. We talked, reminisced and laughed for hours. It sure seems rare to have such a fun evening with friends these days. I would have stayed all night but the car had to get back home to be used in the morning. The drive back wasn't as bad as the drive down...but jez... still waaay busier than I expected it would be. I was pretty bagged and took the 407. The miracle highway that would make so many people's lives better but is pay to play. It has to be one of the worst decisions by an Ontario government (of course the Tories) ever to sell that for profit. GRRR.

Regrettably, I took no photos. I even thought to at the time but hesitated. Stupid. Sigh.

Took a peek at Pop! OS Cosmic... Eee... It sure looks VERY Alpha to me. I won't touch it again until it's 1.0. Even simple things like the Display UI were wonky as hell. Frankly I couldn't get out of it fast enough. Yes, it is alpha but IMHO it has a looooong way to go. I couldn't even find settings?! I would also lose my beloved xscreensaver. So, I was a curious about it but much less so now.
