Hey Bud!

Hey Bud!

As an early Mother's Day gift we drove down to Niagara to take my Mom out for the afternoon. We met for brunch in Niagara Falls at the Queen's Coach Family Restaurant. It is nothing glamourous but service was excellent and the food came quickly. It was pretty standard all-day breakfast fare. That said, I did clean my plate. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Bdot and I have always wanted to check out the Butterfly Conservatory in the Falls. Well, we checked that off our to-do list today. It was pretty cool being completely inundated with butterflies. They were everywhere. The environment is very warm and like a tropical area with lots of flowering trees and shrubs. I thought my allergies were going to explode, but thankfully they did not. There were a lot of butterflies for sure but I don't think the variety of them was very high at all. I would be surprised if there were more than 12 types of butterfly there. I don't know the names of them but the slightly larger blue topped butterfly (brown underside) was the belle of ball for sure. It was a cool experience. It would be neat to be there without kids and in much smaller numbers. You really don't have to move around. It seems best to find a place and let the butterflies flutter around, and maybe even on you...It was a really enjoyable afternoon with my Mom. We walked around the grounds a bit too before heading off.

Bdot did a bit of shopping at the outlet mall on the way home. It seemes she didn't really find what she was looking for. I gained some shorts and summer shirts. Hmpt. I also gained 2 inches on my waist too apparently. sigh...

Undefeated & GOLD!

Undefeated & GOLD!

Some great hockey news! The Canadians were able to come from behind to win gold against the U.S. at the U18 Worlds! WOO! And in NHL Playoff news, those cheating bastard LV Knights were eliminated by the Stars. NHL fans around the world thank you for your service Dallas. This star is for you. โญ

Ontario's little miracle

Ontario's little miracle

Huh. I saw this on FB and thought it was really interesting. The trillium is Ontario's provincial flower.
You should never pick a trillium. Here's why:
1. It takes 9 years after germination for a trillium to flower.
2. Each flower yields only ONE seed pod each year.
3. Each plant can live up to 25 years, and gains all of its nourishment for the remainder of the year during the spring when its leaves are present.
4. Trillium are propagated by ANTS. Not bees, the wind, or birds. The seeds are covered by a sweet coating which entices the ants to carry seeds underground into their colonies. After eating the coating, the seed germinates in the perfect subterranean environment.

Every trillium in the forest is essentially a little miracle.

Curious if there is a Russian alive who will stop Putin from destroying their nation?

Zwift out priced itself

Zwift out priced itself

Zwift is a good product and I do enjoy it... but they announced another price raise today. So a monthly subscription is now $24.99 a month plus applicable taxes. *GASP* Well. That's too much. Good bye Zwift. What a shame. *SMH* ๐Ÿ™„ I'm looking into alternatives. The first I found is MyWhoosh. Crap name but apparently free. Testing it...we'll see. Huh, it works fine with my trainer. It looks even better than Zwift. No in-app audio however? Hmm. Anyway, going to give this free option a try. It looks like a LOT of difficult rides and fewer on the flatter side. If I can find my Fuego Flats in MyWhoosh it may be a keeper!

Looks promising.

RIP Music legend.

RIP Music legend.

Sad news. Hearing famous alt-rock (etc.) music producer Steve Albini has died at 61. I've certainly listened to a ton of music he was involved with... What a shame. He touched so many different genres and elevated a lot of alternative music. sigh

(From Wax Trax! Records FB post) Steve was an American musician, record producer, audio engineer, and music journalist. He was the founder, owner and principal engineer at Electrical Audio, a recording studio complex in Chicago. It has been estimated that he worked on several thousand albums over his career. He worked with acts such as Pigface, Nirvana, Pixies, Bush, Melt Banana, The Breeders, Jarvis Cocker, PJ Harvey, The Jesus Lizard, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Gogol Bordello, Mclusky, and former Led Zeppelin members Jimmy Page and Robert Plant. He also played in various bands, most notably Big Black and Shellac. #Legend

The following was posted on the Nirvana FB page today. I think it says all you need to know about Steve Albini and why he is such a massive loss to the music industry, bands and music fans worldwide.
