IIHF Worlds, London, The Marvels

Best we can do is bronze Best we can do is bronze

MEH. Well Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ won't be taking home this year. They couldn't get a third past Genoni ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญ when it mattered and the shootout is always a crap shoot and they lost it. I had no faith that Binnington was going to beat Genoni in a shootout... Canada even had a OT PP and got no good looks. Also missed two breakaways...Oh well, the best we can do now is bronze. IF we can beat the Sweds. ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช Pretty deflating. I thought Canada out-played the Swiss in the 3rd, the OT and had chances in the shootout but no finish today. There are a lot of good teams at the Worlds. The Swiss have been on the verge of the final berth for a while...No breaks for Canada today. Sigh. GO CZECHIA! ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฟ

Played my last ball hockey game last night until September. It was a quarterfinal game, but the opposition forfeit because of lack of players. So it was just a game. It was still very competitive. We did pull ahead in the fourth period. I did okay a few goals, a few assists. We went out to St.Louis afterward for some laughs. It is a good bunch of guys.

Canada gets nothing. London Calling...

We were away from home so I didn't get to see Canada lose in the bronze medal game. Maybe it is just as well. What a disappointing end to this years Worlds. Big nothing again. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฟ Congrats to the Czechs on their home gold! ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฟ

Also watched the PWHL with Minnesota and Boston unable to score into double OT... then a goal called back for goaltender interference (the right call) then Boston stormed back minutes later to force a game 5. *whistles*

so many chandeliers... so many chandeliers...

THE PUPPY comes home in a week. OMG.

Yesterday we drove down to London to pick up some things and visit our friend Alex. She has been instrumental in our love of the breed and is our OG breeder. She is getting over serious surgery on her leg so I helped tidy her backyard a bit. It's been neglected a long time and our yard whipper was clearly overwhelmed at the task. It didn't even make it through half the yard. We ventured over to Scaddabush which was suggested by Alex. It's an Italian restaurant. They seem to pride themselves on making things fresh and local. That seemed like a good start. We had a delicious fresh mozzarella starter. The server was friendly and helpful. But then our mains came... I ordered The Butcher pizza. (What a name) It was pretty awesome, maybe a bit small for the money...But Alex was disappointed in her mushroom gnocchi dish which was mostly gnocchi and very few mushrooms. The mushrooms presents were small underwhelming slivers. Then bdot...she ordered some sort of shrimp seafood pasta and began eating it unaware that a few of the shrimp were undercooked. BLECK. The staff tried to make it right but... it was still something, I think, shouldn't happen. Again, the pretty expensive main were mostly pasta and sauce with minimal additional ingredients. Even if the main were cooked properly - they didn't seem like good value for the money. On the fence about whether I'd return or not...leaning toward no.

Bdot was out most of Saturday at a dog event. We finally settled in on the couch for a movie and settled on The Marvels. *cough* Wow, what a disjointed, jumbled, uninteresting mess of a film. It has been a while since we turned off a film so...congrats The Marvels you were awful enough to stop. The film had some strange, very forced kumbaya theme that was so up front and on the nose that it was almost embarrassing scene to scene. It was more like little U.N. skits than an attempt at a coherent film. It was bloody awful. Way to drop the ball Marvel Universe. UGH. A generous โญ. Some of the settings and special effects weren't bad...

The situation around Taiwan continues to deteriorate. Pretty scary stuff. F you China!
