Another Christmas in the books. It was pretty quiet this year. We had my Mom over for dinner Christmas Eve. (It was suppose to be Christmas Day but due to an incoming storm we moved things up a day...) It was a low effort Butterball preformed turkey... I wrapped it in bacon and, damn, I thought it turned out pretty good. My mom brought cabbage rolls and pirogi. We were all stuffed. As great as previous, from scratch meals were, I don't think it is worth it for the cook to spend the entire afternoon in the kitchen...Sure the low effort isn't as good but it isn't that bad either and everyone gets to enjoy the company and meal. After dinner we started watching an old Julie Garland movie but with a few minutes it was just too bizarre and not the vibe we wanted so... We switched over to Elf. It is the go to it seems. Otherwise, it was a quiet night.
My Mom was off pretty early the next morning after a delicious pecan breakfast she made. Bdot and I then opened our gifts and the dogs ripped into theirs. I got some great stuff: Steam credit, a R36S Handheld game Console, a display for my Car and loads of chocolate. Bdot got a very crafty Christmas. We were both pretty bagged and had a lot of downtime before the final Christmas festivities at the cottage.
We spent the 26th through 28th at the cottage - two night. The drive up was pretty nasty. We've driven in worse for sure, but still, it was pretty gross. Before leaving Caledon, we ran the dogs at Concession 11. They were typically bonkers. (I was going to include a short video of the rain pellets beating the car but somehow converting a .mov in Kdenlive turns into a time suck I wasn't interested in having...) The problem with cottage visits has become all the dogs don't get along. So, it really ruins any relaxing aspect of most visits. Either we are stuck in a room with them or having the watch their every move... it almost not worth the bother... (we thought about coming home after one night) But anyway... Dog BS aside, it was a fun couple of days. Bdot's brother was there for the first night. We enjoyed the newly updated firepit and had a very bevvies. 'Tis the season for the World Juniors, so we watched Canada v. Latvia. It was a scary close game. EVERY YEAR there is one it seems... Presents. Bill's lockpicking kits were popular this year. The TV series Game of Wool was good for a few laughs for the knitters and non-knitters. It was fun but still enjoy getting home where I can truly relax...
Pondering finally giving up the domain unsung.net which I've had for a looooong time... I can use unsung.surfnet.ca... I guess I don't really need to keep paying for a domain name....
