Iโve been playing with various linux distros for years. The current release of Ubuntu (8.04) is quite impressive. The Gnome based interface is clean and simple to useโฆ After seeing KDE 4.1 on Fedora โ Iโve given up on KDE. KDE 4.1 is a step backwards in usability and in general looks disorganized. I did have some installation issues however. My Hard Drive was not Primary Master so when I rebooted GRUB hungโฆ It couldnโt find the drive. (Isnโt that what GRUB does?) Anyway after finally getting that running the rest was smooth. It updated a bunch of stuff then I was using the current Firefox 3 with Flash installedโฆall painlessly. The one issue I do have occurs during suspend mode. When I try to return to the OS it appears to boot up but the screen remains a blinking cursor. Ho-Hum. Otherwise Ubuntu has been a joy to use. I connected a FAT32 USB drive to it and it detected it and allowed me access to the files rather seamlessly.
My cough is lingering. It is pretty bad at night. I get a โscratchโ in my throat and it triggers a nasty coughing assault. If this persists much longer Iโm going to see my doctor.
