bdot, Family, Anniversary, The Imitation Game
We went down to Niagara to celebrate Easter with my Mom, Sister and JP. First however, we stopped at the hospital to visit with my Dad. He was in decent spirits and was pretty chatty. I think the reality of the situation is weighing heavily on his mind as he was especially contemplative. His condition is very much like a yo-yo… some days he’ll feel ‘like he could run around the hospital 10 times’ other days he’s gasping for breath. It is clear he hates being in the hospital. I can’t blame him. I’ve never liked being in them either. It is still unknown how long he’ll be in this time. Hopefully not long…
I really love that the Niagara Health System hospital screws people to park. Six bucks per visit. I think we were there for less than an hour. The stupid parking machine wouldn’t let us out. The least they could do is have a fscking human there to deal with if they insist on gouging visitors for parking. Sigh.
Dinner was chicken, stuffing and potato casserole. It was the first family dinner we ever celebrating without my Dad. It sure felt odd.
My parents have two cats with very different personalities. One hid most of the time the other, the ADD cat, was zipping around and getting into trouble the entire visit. Bugging the dog. In the dog’s soft crate. *On* the dog’s soft crate. He is quite the little devil. After dinner we stretched our legs and walked down to the Lake. It was gray and rather grim outside… but the fresh air was nice.
We finally watched The Imitation Game this weekend. What a story. I was unaware of the historic background of Turing and the role his code breaking team played in the war. The decisions they had to make were monumental. The treatment of Turing was appalling. His team and his machine may have turned the tide of the war and his gross indecency is what he was remembered for, for so many years. It was an incredible story both triumphant and tragic. Certainly “A moving tribute to an extraordinary man.” ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Happy Anniversary to bdot. Today marks 12 years we have been together.
