Hmm... I've noticed warmer than usual air coming off my main computer. I mean, the cat even noticed and was sleeping on the top fans... I took a closer look at noticed the power supply (PS) fan isn't spinning. And yes, some fans are suppose to be off under light load, but I tried to ramp it up and the fan is still not coming on. I tried to determine how old the PS is but oddly couldn't find a record of it. I figure it has to be at least 5-10 years old. It still works but it does seem to get warm after extended use - so I'm replacing it. In looking for a new PS I noticed a new classification of 80 WHITE. Which is now BELOW Bronze....in load efficiency... I was happy to find a GOLD PS at under $100... Wow... PS are expensive now. I remember being able to get a good one for under $50... HMPT.

New PSU
New PSU

The new power supply for my main system has arrived. It's an Antec Neo ECO GOLD Zen. It is Gold rated... which is cool...but its basic otherwise. It is NOT modular and outputs a modest 500W. It has a good assortment of plugs - everything a modern system would require. The install was pretty straight forward. I did experience a non-POST however. My mobo is a ASUS 550B and the Q-LED was solid orange. After some googling, I figured it was RAM. I think I actually had the exact same issue before. I use all four RAM slots and removed two of the same sticks and the error went away. I reseeded the removed RAM (and cleaned the RAM slots) and got a full, normal POST! YAYE! So my main is back in business. I also did a bit of cable management as well...
