Burn After Reading

For shits and giggles I’ve decided to mod my old xbox and put Linux on it. *adjusts pocket protector* Yes. Geeky. The community (404 link removed - Jan/24) behind this is extensive. I guess the geeks love socking it to Bill’s first console. There are at least eight or so distros of xbox linux. Heh. Anyway, to get it working required some tinkering under the hood. Fortunately I found a non-soldering method, (404 link removed - Jan/24) and after about 20m I had a new BIOS working and was booting into x-DSL! The only issue is getting the display to work properly. It seems to cut off at 800×600.. but I’m working on fixing that. The XBox controller functions as a mouse and there is an on screen keyboard (or you can Mod up a USB keyboard). I’m hoping to turn the xbox into a Media Centre or some such thing. It was just gathering dust anyway. This is kinda fun. *snort*

B. was away most of the afternoon with the dog at a class. So I was left with various chores. First I cleared the driveway of branches, broke them down and cleaning the garage a little. Then made a pot of chili for dinner, took out garbage, vacuumed and did a few loads of laundry. I was pretty zonked after all that. In the evening we went to the cute theater in Bolton to see Burn After Reading. I enjoyed it. I love John Malkovich! Pitt was very funny as well. It was a curious little film. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Sabres came back to beat the Leafs in OT in pre-season play tonight. They were losing 2-0 with 6m to play in third! Hopefully a sign of things to come.
