I guess when things are going bad (and for me they areโฆ) one should try and focus on the positive things in oneโs life. yes dig and look hard.
Fortunately for me I donโt have to look that far. My significant other has been with me (enduring me) through many ups and downs (and fall downs and way downsโฆ and gawd โ get ups!) She has made me smile when I didnโt want too. She has given me hope when I needed to find some. She offers comfort when I need to be held. I just wanted to say thank you. Some dayโฆ we will find an island in the sun.
Update 2024: Or maybe she'll listen to her some of her poisonous family and stab me in the back...
donโt upgrade to XP!!
โOthers feel we must persuade our political leaders to draw the line. โI refuse to upgrade to Windows XP and Office XP because I feel that the product activation procedures are unreasonable,โ another reader wrote. โBut what can we as consumers do to get our lawmakers to protect us from the slippery corporate giants? We should not be required to provide any marketing info to a company [to which] weโve paid for a product. Many of these companies profile consumers, sell consumer information to other companies [that] might benefit financially from aggressive โ and annoying โ targeting of these people by telemarketers, etc. I know that our government encourages free trade and does not like to intervene and impose rules on free markets, but they also have a responsibility to its citizens at large, namely you and me.โ
OK, but Iโm not going to hold my breath. I think the best answer is to be heard echoing through the comments of all these readers: Donโt buy this stuff. If nothing else, hold on to the blessedly registerware-free software youโve got, because itโs looking more valuable all the time. Itโs neither too late to register your gripes, nor is it too late to vote with your feet.โ
Micro$oft has gone to far. One user at a time -hopefully- they will get the message.
