It was a really quiet long weekend. I guess we needed it after the crazy and exhausting demo weekend before. (My bruises are only now beginning to fade) We did however manage to look at tileโฆ one of the few remaining big decisions we have to make. We have the tile choice narrowed down to two. Weโve decided against polished tile. It looks sharp but it appears to scratch easily and doesnโt seem very practical for tile that will get heavy use. It is interesting that the tile weโll end up with looks essentially like the tile we originally picked. *smirk* The reno carpenter and his apprentice were in on Saturday fixing our sub-floor. We both figured it was sketchy, and our Contractor agreed. So it has been beefed up and feels significantly better. It didnโt make any sense to upgrade to hardwood and tile over a flimsy sub-floor. Bdot did some work in the kitchen removing the last of the dreaded wallpaper. I pulled more weeds. I guess it should be done when they are reaching 3-4 feet high. Sigh, the backyardโฆ
So life continues as we live out of the basement. It isnโt bad actually. We have a table to prepare meals on and the kitchen fridge is now in the basement. (Serving double duty as a beer fridge!) We are doing all of the cooking on the BBQโฆ It isnโt awesome but it works. I think more than six weeks of the constrained living however and weโll be ready to have a proper kitchen back. Surprisingly the cats arenโt freaking out too much despite all the noise and they have found the new sliding door. So now they are closer to us when they meow to get outside.
Happy Birthday Canadaโฆ my homeland is now 146 years old. โIโm proud to be a Canadian, pass me another beerโฆ.โ Aww Dayglos. Seeing Rush next Saturday eh!
My holidays for August were accepted! Iโm looking forward to nearly a full two weeks at the cottage. Sadly this will be the last year to enjoy this luxury. It was fun while it lasted.
