Easy Rider

Easy Rider

Wow. I haven’t seen this film until today. I understand now why Easy Rider is a classic. From the deep underlying meanings and symbolism of the landscapes to the commentary on U.S. culture and freedom… this film 30 years later still packs a potent, relevant punch. Very impressive. The LSD trip scene was awesome. It also reminded me of how I felt while I was in the South many years ago. Some things never seem to change. ⭐⭐⭐⭐½

done done on to the next one…

Finally. Done all my Christmas dinners! First was my family’s dinner, which was at my uncle’s out-of-town. I’ve never been to his new home so it was cool to check it out. A good time. The question of the evening was: “How late should my 16 year old neice be allowed to stay out?” I think 1 A.M. is pretttttttttttttty generous.

Dinner two was at my parents (with my gf’s parents coming over as well). Another great meal. It seems like people’s eyes were bigger than their tummies. Is there ever NOT leftovers from Christmas dinner?? heh. I did the gift exchange with my gf this eve as well. Scored some DVDs, clothes, games, nothing too geeky this year.

The gathering I was least looking forward to was today at my gf’s sister’s place. There is a bunch of bitter history between me and much of this side of my gf’s family. I’m the ghost no one talks to, I’m the obligatory gift and person no one wants to see. So you can imagine how things went. I’m always glad to leave that dinner. Again, it isn’t everyone but some adults behave as bad as kids. Disappointing.

Friday Five!

ok. I was doing a blog review and came across The Friday Five on the site. Seems like a great idea. I’m going to add these to my blog on, duh, Fridays, if I remember. I like answering questions, and although it isn’t Friday, let’s get this question-asking party started.

1. What holiday or holidays do you celebrate this time of year?
Christmas.

2. What was the best gift you have ever received?
I have always been somewhat disappointed with gifts I have received. Which is strange because I have many apparent interests, and I would think I’m easy to buy for. Don’t recall at this time.

3. What was the worst gift you’ve ever given?
Something generic and impersonal…

4. Where will you be celebrating the holidays? Are you hosting? Going away?
Uncle’s, Sister-in-Law’s, Parent’s.

5. If you could spend the holidays with someone who isn’t around, who would it be with? Why?
Good question but I don’t think there is such a person. Maybe hang out with a few ‘net friends I’ve never met.

Update: Five site is gonzo. (Dec. 2013)
