Speaking of which... I guess when you stack the Supreme Court with bought off Republican hacks you have to expect extraordinary short sighted, anti-democratic thing to occur. Even saying that, I can't believe they just gave their dictator President carte blanche do anything they want without legal repercussions when acting as President. It is a MASSIVE step BACKWARD for democracy... but seems the direction the Republicans have been wanting to take the country for years. Disgusting!

One judge seemed to actually grasp the big picture. From cbc.ca:
Sotomayor writes a scathing dissent
"Today's decision to grant former presidents criminal immunity reshapes the institution of the presidency. It makes a mockery of the principle, foundational to our Constitution and system of government, that no man is above the law," Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote in a scathing dissent.
Sotomayor, who read a summary of her dissent aloud in the courtroom, said the protection afforded presidents by the court "is just as bad as it sounds, and it is baseless."
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat from California, said in a statement after the ruling that the high court had "gone rogue" and its decision erodes the court's credibility "in the eyes of all those who believe in the rule of law."
“With fear for our democracy, I dissent,” she concluded.

Another dissenting judge stated:
Jackson wrote a separate dissent, though noted that she “agree[s] with every word of her powerful dissent,” and wanted to lay out the “theoretical nuts and bolts of what, exactly, the majority has done today to alter the paradigm of accountability for Presidents of the United States”.
The ruling changes the balance of power among the three branches of government and gets rid of the ability to deter presidents from abusing their power, “to the detriment of us all”, Jackson wrote. The “practical consequences” of the majority decision “are a five-alarm fire that threatens to consume democratic self-governance and the normal operations of our Government”.

I believe history will look back on this ruling as a pivotal day in which corruption and greed began toppling democracy. The potential for abuse by say a corrupt, morally bereft, narcissistic megalomanic to do whatever self serving action comes to mind is limitless and DEEPLY disturbing. SMH. The U.S. political system was very carefully, and thoughtfully constructed with checks and balances TO PREVENT any one branch to have too much power. And in a few short years, one man has manged to start unravelling these IMPORTANT checks and balanced. Americans should be VERY concerned about their future.

Surprised how ho-hum season 3 of The Bear is. Very little progress in the story... lots of reflective montages and back story. Meh. They are stringing along a review over multiple episodes too...Wow, it is so bad...UGH.

We ventured to Alliston for a nice walk with Brian and the dogs. They enjoyed splashing around in the cool river. Also DQ and Pizzaville. Cotton Candy blizzard isn't what I was expecting but it is still pretty good. It's very sweet.

Wow. U.S. and Mexico out of COPA. Only Canada and Panama are in from CONCACAF. That's crazy.
