I was invited to join my sister in lawโ€™s husband (Bill), brother in law (Steveo) and a family friend (Pete) at my sister in lawโ€™s cottage last weekend. Steveo met me Friday afternoon and we drove up to Honey Harbour. We got in a few beers and a little relaxation in the only warm sun of the weekend. Ho-hum. I guess I wasnโ€™t completely aware of what the weekend would entire. It was a work weekend. So I had no shoes, no long sleeve shirts and no jacket. The weekend included moving a dock, clearing shrubs, cutting down two massive trees (see above), re-roofing a outhouse and burning a ton of wood. In the evening we eventually figured out how to watch both game sevens for the Eastern and Western conferences. Bill smoked some pork and chicken wingsโ€ฆ they look burnt but they were actually smoked and delicious.

And for dinner.... MEAT.

And for dinner.... MEAT

There was also a lot of drinking. Bill stopped in Barrie on the way up to the cottage. He picked some amazing beers from Flying Monkeys. We tried the MASSIVE SuperCollider 2.0โ€ฆ with a staggering 102 IBU and 10.4% ALC/Volumeโ€ฆ I was expecting it to be undrinkably bitter but wowโ€ฆ what a wonderful taste it had. Yum! The Monkeys Genius of Suburbia was also good. The day went well. The trees we fell were probably thousands of pounds. If they had falling incorrectly it could have easily crushed someone or the cottage. Fortunately Pete was pretty accurate with both trees. Phew. It will be a long time before they are completely cleared. The final meal Sunday morning was triple smoked bacon. Damn.

mmm Bacon.

Sunday afternoon we met back at Billโ€™s place for dinner with the family. It was a fun weekend. Lots of time with guys being guys. *smirk* Surprisingly I got the only injury. An elbow scrape on a slippery moss covered rock while carrying the dock. *eyeroll*
