WOW! I didn’t know what to expect when my gf and I decided on joining some of our friends (Jason and Ang) who were having a baby. We arrived at the hospital at around 10:30. Both sets of parents were there and Ang’s brother. At first Ang was walking around in between contractions… then once they become too strong she was carted off and we could only hear her. I was glad to be Male. Her screams out did anything I’ve ever heard… give me the drugs now! Anyways.. the wait was well over 8 hours… but well worth it… As our friends gave birth to a healthy 8 pound boy! Congrats to the parents!
Certainly was a deeply enlightening experience. I’m glad I went. His name is Avery.
weekend…
I was away from home most of the weekend at a friend’s place in Toronto… Had a good time doing geeky guy things and watching some hockey. Where? Hooters… It is a pretty interesting environment… Clearly the guys love the waitresses in the 2 sizes too small outfits… But while we were there some people were having their photo taken with the waitresses… (It appeared to be a couple on vacation – they seemed amazed and amused at Hooter and ‘Canada’…)
Home was a little different… the gf and ‘talked’ about a bunch of lingering issues. Emotions were certainly running high.
There seems to be a perception about people who can’t find work… some think that you aren’t trying hard enough or not looking or whatever …but there are jobs you are qualified for and there are jobs you aren’t qualified for. I’m finding a lot of Nots. I have had interviews and a few opportunities… if they had panned out would the perception be different? Maybe I need to be more realistic about where and what I should apply for… But I wonder why people feel that they have the right to tell me what positions I should apply for and where I should look … Are they going to drive to the job and work there?? No. Just frustrating… some days are very frustrating.
Friday Five! ack!
Well it figures there would be a Friday Five about jobs while I’m between jobs… sigh… Anyways, based on my last job.
1. Where do you currently work?
Bah. Some contract work from home. But between full-time jobs ATM. 😦
2. How many other jobs have you had and where?
A few. Different web develop agencies in Niagara.
3. What do you like best about your job?
Usually my co-workers but I enjoy the challenge of web development and always having to learn new ways to do things (and get stronger kung-fu).
4. What do you like least about your job?
Losing them. It seems money for web development in this area isn’t a priority, when money gets tight the web guy is often the first to go. Sigh.
5. What is your dream job?
Hmm… I’ve always thought being a National Geographic photographic would have to be a cool gig. Maybe a software tester at a major game developer (like Blizzard, Bioware etc.). I have also thought running some sort of on-line magazine would be cool as well.
