Just got home from seeing Avatar in 3D. Wow. It was unequivocally one of the best theatre experiences Iโve had. First offโฆ the โ3Dโ effect was breathtaking at times. The environments were immersive on a scale Iโve never seen before. I often felt I could reach out and touch the lush visual landscapes. The CGI was the best Iโve seen in a movie bar none. This was combined with a beautiful, imaginative world full of creative and interesting animals and plants and so many textures. It was a long film but I would have stayed much longer in Cameronโs world. Sure the characters were somewhat simplistic and stereotypical, but they served the point for the film. The story was basic as well, and was a clear metaphor for human greed and the need to advance a Green agenda. But ultimately it was entertainment and very entertaining. The little details were impressive as well, the innovations of the Warcraft HUD, the tribal customs and language, the ecosystems on the new planet, the Avatar science, the trial historyโฆ There is tons of actions, a little romance and a straightforward albeit polarizing story. It is no wonder Cameron is now #1 and #2 for top grossing films. Highly recommended. See it now. Once again Cameron has raised the bar for film making and the theatrical experience. โญโญโญโญโ
