bdot, Canada, sports

show us the money

show us the money

Huh. Wellโ€ฆ in spite of the noble and brave efforts of the Canadian athletes in Athensโ€ฆ I have to say Iโ€™m disappointed with how we are doingโ€ฆ I certainly do NOT blame the athletes whatsoeverโ€ฆ clearly, money means medals. I guess Canada has to be content with mediocrity if the funding the athletes receive is mediocre.

Sure, there are some sports that are properly funded (I think rowing was one of them) but overall the impression I get is more athletes are struggling with proper coaching, training and funding. I mean there must have been a need for seeyouinathens to exist. Considering how much money is pissed away by government and how proud it makes me feel to see Canadian athletes succeed. I would certainly be in favour of more funding to (at least) allow our athletes to compete at the high world class level. hmmpt!

Spent most of yesterday searching for Listowel as B. wanted to check out a yarn sale there. It is pretty interesting country in Western Ontario. Farms and a more rural lifestyle. Curious how the farms use the honour system with flowers and produce. I couldnโ€™t imagine that in the GTA.. hahaโ€ฆ.A nice drive.

Update: seeyouinathens is gone. yarn site still there. (april 2024)
