Walkway Phase One

Walkway Phase One

Some sad newsโ€ฆ B.โ€™s grandmother passed away suddenly yesterday. She was peaceful and comfortable and had family present at the time. Consequently we are driving to Killaloe tomorrow for the wake and will be away most of the weekend.

At home our landscaper has started work on the front walkway redesign. In one day they have already removed all the odd stones and framed the pathway. It is pretty exciting. Iโ€™m expecting it to look very impressive once completed.

Iโ€™ve always found the Human Development Index to be very interesting. From wikipedia : โ€˜It is a standard means of measuring well-being, especially child welfare. It is used to determine and indicate whether a country is a developed, developing, or underdeveloped country and also to measure the impact of economic policies on quality of life.โ€˜. Canada has had an impressive ranking for years and was number one for many years as well. Canada is presently ranked 6th and is 0.015 behind the current highest ranked nation, Norway. I wasnโ€™t surprised to see Ireland ranking very high as well.

In local newsโ€ฆ another sad passing, Torontoโ€™s icon โ€˜Honestโ€™ Ed Mirvish passed away earlier this week. A true rags to riches story, his philanthropy is a rarity and true inspiration.
