The dental appointment was unpleasant. First offโ€ฆ I rushed home to make the appointment then had to wait 30m for the Dentist. sigh Then it became a house of pain! I think it was 90m of pulling, poking, drilling, grinding and crushing. Ouch. Oddly it isnโ€™t my teeth or gums that hurt today, it is my jaw. I think all my fillings have finally been addressed. I never really thought I took that bad care of my teeth either. I brush at least twice a day. *shrug* I guess I need to floss more?

Two back to back ball hockey games this week. I play tonight and tomorrow night. One game is a โ€˜make-upโ€™ game. Two more games then the season is over. The playoffs seem long, they are round robin then knock out. Pretty much the same process as the World Cup. Iโ€™m hoping to miss as few games as possible. Always seems to be a reason I miss these games.

Work is pretty slow. Everyone is on holidays, not just my co-workers, but the people who generate content for the sites I maintain are also away. Zzz. Thank god for blip.fm. Iโ€™m still looking for PHP code to display my blip.fm feed. I did find one script, but I canโ€™t get it to work. (There is no example either that it does)

I finished another book! Yes, this is a noteworthy event. I think Iโ€™ve only finished half a dozen since I graduated from university, many, many years ago. My sister-in-law gave me Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell for Christmas. It is a fascinating read. It touches on sociology, history, statistics and wraps it in an accessible and engaging narrative. Gladwell pursues the cause for success and focuses on people such as Bill Gates โ€ฆ Sure Bill is a big geek and would have been successful but to become the CEO of Microsoft a lot had to happen. The book explores how it happened and reveals there is much more going on then a smart guy becoming successful. I wonโ€™t blow the theories from the book for youโ€ฆ It is highly recommended and enjoyable read. B. was nice to get me a few more of his books which I intend on tackling during my vacation (which is six working days away โ€“ not that Iโ€™m countingโ€ฆ *cough*)

My final results for the CBC World Cup Soccer pool : Overall Points: 108 Overall Rank: 13412. Iโ€™m hoping it is out of 2 billion. ๐Ÿ™‚
