Ovo (Cirque du Soleil)

Saturday was a long day. We started the day with a home energy audit. It was very enlightening. I recommend all homeowners to get ‘er done. The inspector showed us many ways to improve the warmth and efficiency of the house… most of which the government will contribute to getting fixed. It really is a good program. Kudos for the government for finally getting one right. We also saw another furnace salesman who was pushing York products. We have dealt with him before and he appears to be the leading candidate at the moment. B. is impressing all these salesmen with her extensive research… it is fairly amusing. I get the impression it is very atypical for a woman to be so knowledgeable.

In the early evening we drove to downtown Toronto to see Ovo (Cirque du Soleil). It was an impressive show. It was very much modern circus meets gymnastics. There were segments containing trampoline, high-wire, juggling, rope dangling and lots of typical gymnastic jumping, dancing and acrobatics. I liked the trampoline, high-wire and rope segments the most. I kept thinking one fsck up and they are toast. The actors (athletes?) showed some incredible dexterity and agility. There were a lot of svelte young women in spandex running about. *grin* The costumes were bright and vibrant and the live music created wonderful atmospheres. I think the guitarist must own ever effect pedal known to guitar. The female vocalist was also particularly good with her linguistic melodies. There was some audience interaction but it seemed to be an afterthought. The show was about the ‘theatrical gymnastic routines’. I thought the show was a little short and underwhelming for the price tag. It was good, but not >$100 per ticket good. The location is also curious amidst an industrial area along the lake.

We joined Michelle for Sushi at Rebekka’s after the show. I think we all overate. We tried to find ice cream for dessert but both DQ and Happy Days were closed. Gah.

Woke up with a nasty headache this morning. The drugs to combat this affliction are finally kicking in. B. is out trying to get Tanga’s final FD title leg… I had a short convo with her and it didn’t sound like she got it. Hmmpt.
