Ribfest, Canada, Soccer

Meh.

Meh.

Well, if you believed the US blowhard media, you would have thought the US would have easily beat Canada. That didn't happen. Canada fought hard pushing the US to PKs. The boys were ahead in extra time but the US tied after an unfortunate own goal. PKs goes as PK goes. No saves from our goalie. Missed kicks. Sigh. Great effort, I would have loved beating the US. Quite an incredible game.

Ribs? Yes please.

Ribs? Yes please.

Yesterday we made a short trip to Bolton's Ribfest. For reasons I don't understand, it was held in the parking lot of Canadian Tire. I can't think of too many less desirable locations to be in under the Summer sun. *shrug* The signage was seriously lacking. There was no indication anywhere that there was just one entrance to the event. So a lot of people had to walk around a significant portion of the exterior to arrive at the gate. I read somewhere you could donate to three different charities to enter but wasn't presented with any options at all. There were a bunch of food trucks but we were there for ribs and chicken. The menus and pricing were the same at all three rib vendors which was smart. Not sure why anyone would wait in line - i'd imagine the only real difference between vendors was the sauce? We opted for Royale BBQ since it had no lineup. Even with a calculator, somehow the clerk overcharged us by $20-$30! Calculator malfunction. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. The food was quite good but I'm not sure it was ultimately worth the cost and experience. *shrug* I hate shitting on local events like this but it seemed like a pretty big money grab. For just a rack of ribs and half chicken, we were over $60... It would have been curious to see how the music venue functioned. It looked professionally setup and the sound was quite good.
