The Gold drought is over!

Gah. If there was one thing I didn’t want was to watch another horrible Canadian collapse. And damn…. it nearly happened. Even as Canada took a 5 – 1 lead I figured the game was far from over. Once again Russia struck back with 3 goals in about 5 minutes getting to within a goal of tying the game. Oh the déjà vu… After the third consecutive Russia goal the tension got ratcheted up to maximum. Then there was the entire third period the boys protected the one goal lead. Phew… But they held on! Canadian juniors are golden once again defeating one of the arch rivals and reoccurring spoilers for Team Canada, the Russians. It looks like next year will be tough with the US and Sweden both in their group.

It was awesome to see Sabres draft pick Sam Reinhart play really well. He was named one of team Canada’s best players.
