Skiing in darkness

Skiing in darkness

A bunch of guys from work and I went to Horseshoe Valley tonight for skiing/snowboarding. I was the only skier. -smirk- I want to try snowboarding but Iโ€™m pretty certain I will stick with skiing. Snowboarding looks more complicated in so many ways that I canโ€™t imagine liking it more than skiing. But I will try it once and see. I enjoyed skiing though. Believe it or notโ€ฆ in spite of the very limited skiing experience I haveโ€ฆ I didnโ€™t wipe out once tonight! Admittedly I stuck to the easy and moderate (and accidentally one diamond hill *cough* *gasp*) but that is my speed. I see no reason to go beyond my comfort zone. One of my co-workers wasnโ€™t so lucky. He was doing some sort of trick on a pipe and seriously injured his shoulder. This is the same guy that injured himself earlier this year wakeboarding. Ish! I spend most of the night with another snow noob. During one of his runs someone yelled โ€˜Darkness!โ€™ at him from behindโ€ฆ he said he nearly wiped out. He thought it was another one of our co-workersโ€ฆ turns out it wasnโ€™t. Odd.

The drive home was pretty bizarre. Our driverโ€™s car started the drive home with one headlight working. After about 10 minutes the working light died. Soโ€ฆ. Our choices were A) Darkness or B) Hi-Beams. Sorry to all the northbound traffic on the 400, we choose B. A section of the 400 was closed (due to an accident?)โ€ฆ so we diverted down Janeโ€ฆ which also had at least two accidents on it. Pretty creepy. We saw no less than 20 cop cars tonight. I guess there was a lot of ice on the road. An enjoyable night. My co-workers are a lot of fun.
