Need any leaves?

Another lovely Fall week in the books. We were originally suppose to be going to my parents in St.Catharines for dinner. But alas, the plans fell apart as my Dad wasn’t feeling well and it seems my sister also had a tough week. So this dinner (which has already been postponed, is postponed yet again. Sometimes a meeting isn’t meant to happen. It is just as well as bdot also had a very long week.

We used the time instead to run some errands and return some stuff in Vaughan. I’m not sure what was going on in Vaughan but the exits off the 400 into the city were backed up for kilometers. Very odd. In the evening we settled in to watch Dallas Buyers Club. We made a few tasty drinks mixing Goldschl├Ąger and Apple Cider. Yum! The movie was pretty somber. A thin, sickly looking Matthew McConaughey stars as a guy who acquires AIDS during the early days of the disease. He tries keeping himself alive with various drugs. Some work. Some didn’t. He eventually pushes back against the FDA for the drugs he felt were harmful. It was a remarkable true story based on the life of Ron Woodroof. It isn’t surprising the film and McConaughey won so many awards for the film.

Our Empty Bowls. Now full with dinner.

Our Empty Bowls. Now full with dinner.

Yesterday we returned, yet again to the Alton Mill for the annual Empty Bowls charity event. The hardest part continues to be picking from the many beautiful bowls. The soup was delicious. We wandered around the Mill and picked up some pottery we’ve been eyeing for weeks. A stunning fruit bowl (which will now be the centrepiece on our dining room table) and two mugs. We continue to drool over the Floyd Elzinga pieces.

After the Mill we drove around the exterior of the Forks of the Credit park trying to find an alternate route in. Curiously the locals have no parking signs along every alternate access point into the park. Seems pretty selfish to me. We eventually took the usual route down Dominion road. It was a great day for a walk. It was busy but not as bad as Mono Cliffs was a few weeks back. We met a few interesting people. A group of 20 somethings that were very lost. I guess they decided to climb down a hill offtrail and lost their bearings. They were going in the wrong direction almost in the opposite end of the park that they wanted to be in. *smirk* We hiked for about 2 hours. My phone said we walked for close to 12km and over 14k steps. Swell. Leaving we met two nice couples who fancied our pretty dog. We wondered if the cop stationed at the end of Dominion road is off duty paid by the locals. Seemed like a pretty boring day at the office.

Other than the Bills win it was a brutal weekend for my sports teams. Sabres continue to suck and haven’t scored in two games. Both of which were HOME games. I get the tank crowd but wow… I can’t imagine how adding the best tank result with McDavid could significantly improve this team. They are so inept. Seven McDavids maybe. TFC not surprisingly couldn’t even beat Montreal to keep any glimmer of playoff hopes alive. So… MLSE spent over 100M and the team still sucks. Bravo. Tottenham got owned in a very dubiously refereed game by Man. City. Ugh.
